The late Mohamed Awad achieves one of his most haunting and poetic expressions. Cloaked figures advance through an atmosphere drenched in indigo and cobalt, their forms dissolving into the cool architecture of memory. The composition radiates stillness, yet within that silence lies immense emotional resonance. Awad’s command of tone and restraint is profound — the blue spectrum here becomes both a landscape and an emotion. Each figure seems to emerge from mist and retreat back into it, mirroring the artist’s meditation on presence and disappearance, community and solitude. Part of his late period’s Women Series, this work speaks of dignity, continuity, and devotion. The women of Awad’s vision are eternal — guardians of culture, faith, and endurance — moving quietly between light and shadow, between the seen and the unseen.
